How Big is you Box?

What does it mean to "work your salvation with fear and trembling"? [Philippians 2:12] In today's Christian culture I don't think we truly have a grasp on what having a fear of God means. Instead of this we minimize Him. I think so often we minimize God for one of two reasons.
The first being that we want him to fit into our little box so we can pull him out for Sunday service but keep him contained every other time, allowing us to do what we what. The second, and become increasing more popular in churches today, is that we minimize, cover up, water down, and dilute who God is and what he has done. We do this so that God can be more acceptable to the unsaved world. So that more people will attend services because they "make them feel good". Really? How is this going to help? If we minimize who God is then people ill never know the EXTENT of God's wrath and therefore, his love. Without knowing God's wrath then we can never understand why he did what he did to Jesus. And if we can't understand this then we can never understand Jesus at all.
Yes, God is love and yes, god is merciful but we need to look what it cost ---> JESUS.
When we water this down it allows people to remain in sin patterns because they don't understand who Jesus is and what he did. For the longest time I didn't really know why I wasn't supposed to sin-it was just what you were supposed to do. Now I know that I shouldn't sin becaus when I do it's like spitting in the face of Jesus, it's like casting a blow on his already bloody back. When we choose sin over Jesus was are the ones in the crowd mocking him as he carries his cross. Can you hear yourself? If you can't I would encourage you to do a gut check and think about what your sin really means. It all comes back to the question:
"If you got to heaven and Jesus wasn't there... Would you care?"

"God -'I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his suffering' [Philippians 3:10] so that I can understand why I should refrain from sin and choose life in every situation. Help me make my life be one that honors and glorifies you not only for what you did but because I truly love you. Amen"
