When you leave this earth to face judgment by the Father what will you have to show for it? Wealth, objects, toys, enemies, even good deeds alone are not pleasing to our Father. When we get to heaven, all that matters to Him is souls.
How many people do you have following you? How many people have you impacted with the way you live your life? How many people have you inspired by your actions alone? How many people have you spoken words of life into? These are the only questions that are going to be asked.
Think of this situation: Take a firefighter that everyday saves lives. Then take a accountant. Now the firefighter is a ChristmasEaster Christian. He know Jesus died to save Him and he goes to church because it's "just what Christians do." Now, look at the accountant. He doesn't save lives, or even deal directly with people but, he honors God with everything that he has and uses every opportunity that is presented to Him to share the Kingdom. Now who, in the eyes of God, is better? The accountant. Yes, the firefighter saves lives in our earthly lifetime but, he did nothing to save their eternal lives.
Take a moment for that to sink in. Although the firefighter was honored is this life, the accountant will be honored for eternity. Now, I don't know about you, but I would give rather give up this lifetime and humble myself for around 80 years for an eternity of honor and reward in heaven.
When you die and leave this earth, how do you want people to remember you? Would you like to be remember as the person that strained for everything this earth could offer and left no prisoners in their quest to obtain glory and respect from people, or the person that would go out of their way to help others, the person that was filled with the Joy of the Lord no matter what the circumstances dictated, and the one that did everything for the honor of God and yearned to live their lives like Jesus?
Hopefully you choose the later. Just keep in mind that no one is going be able to live a sinless life. But, Jesus died for us so we don't have to!So live your life according to 2 Timothy 4:7. Be quick to forgive, slow to anger, and always look to Jesus for everything.
2Timothy 4:7
7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
