Want to hear a crazy cool story?! Yeah you do, well here it
goes. Upon arriving in Toulouse I made my way, rather eventfully I might add,
to my friend Taylor’s host family’s house. After trying to figure out housing
for a while and not being able to find anything Taylor’s host mom suggested
that I come and live with her. Which is excellent however she’s charging 20€ a
night, which is kind of a lot of money. After a day or so at Taylor’s house one
of Taylor’s friends was talking to her host family about my situation and they
offered to house me for free! Taylor and I talked about it and I decided to
give it a night to think and pray about it. As I was thinking I kept coming
back to a few themes we learned and embraced while in Uganda-- community,
provision, and presence—I couldn’t justify moving simply to save money, even if
it was over $260 that I would be saving. If money was my only reason for moving
then it didn’t make sense because I know a God who provides miraculously over
and over again.
Now for the exciting part! Drumroll please……..
So. My second night in Toulouse, Taylor and I went to a
bible study/fellowship/small group/dinner with the missions organization we’re
planning to partner with later in the summer (Reach Global – Toulouse). After
the dinner, message, and worship (which I unfortunately didn’t understand much
ofàworking on it;) ) The
leader came up to Taylor and was desperately trying to find a baby sitter for a
AGAPE France(CRU in the states) conference which is running Thursday thru
Sunday. Guess who is totally free, is a Christian and is looking for alterative
housing?! ME! But wait. It gets even betterJ.
This babysitting job is in PARIS and they’re going to pay for my
transportation, housing, food and other costs! How great is that. Not only did
God provide housing in a way that won’t sacrifice community but he provided it
in Paris! So, from Thursday to Sunday I’ll be in charge of 7 kids aged 6-12 for
part of the day, it’s like summer camp all over again!
So that’s where I find myself now. Taylor has one more week
of school left and we’re planning our traveling portion at the moment! Oh, and
we temporarily lost the kitten yesterday and again today. He’s an adventurous
little stinker.
